Accident claims at least one
The Ohio State Highway patrol is investigating a fatal accident which occurred on state Route 142, north of U.S. Route 40, at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
At least one person died in a sports utility vehicle that was southbound on 142 when it crossed left of center and struck Jefferson Township Medic 251 head on, according to witnesses.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident which occurred on state Route 142, north of U.S. Route 40, at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Columbus Police officer Marcia “Jodi” Frederick, the driver, died in a sports utility vehicle that was southbound on 142 when it crossed left of center and struck Jefferson Township Medic 251 head on, according to witnesses. The deceased’s name was not immediately available. “He just went left of center all of a sudden,” said West Jefferson resident Steve Wills, who was driving behind the SUV. “It was like it happened in slow motion.” At least three others from the SUV were transported from the scene to Ohio State University and Grant hospitals. Their names and conditions were not immediately available. The medic was transporting a patient and his wife when the accident occurred.
“Jodi” Frederick was driving a black Ford Expedition when she veered left of center and crashed into a Jefferson Township ambulance.
“He just went left of center all of a sudden,” said West Jefferson resident Steve Wills, who was driving behind the SUV. “It was like it happened in slow motion.”
At least three others from the SUV were transported from the scene to Ohio State University and Grant hospitals.
