The Village of West Jefferson is hosting a special free community event to coincide with other National Night Out activities across the country.
The West Jefferson National Night Out outdoors event will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7 on Pearl Street, between Walnut and Center Street. The free event will feature live music with The Posse Band and free food and beverages, thanks to a grant from the Target Corporation.
“We will have safety information tables at the event,” Mayor Darlene Steele said. “Groups like the West Jefferson Police Department, Jefferson Township Fire Department, Drug Free West Jeff will be participating and Carol Beachy and West Jefferson Hardware will have a display of equipment that is designed to prevent home break-ins. I encourage the community to come out and enjoy a nice evening of free music and food.”

I drove past the park just the other day no one was there but the parking lot is BRAND New and all the streets leading to the park are so full of pot holes its amazing where the city spends its tax dollars it sure is not on the streest of the city

If WJ Police would do their job there wouldn’t be so many break ins in West Jeff, they are afraid of everyone including the teenagers who just continue to destroy Garrett Park they drive by there 100 times a day see the older teens hanging out destroying things and NEVER do anything to stop it or run them off of the property that is intended for the younger kids to have a place to go play at. Not for teens who just continue to destory the property. WJ is a joke anymore and no wonder so many people want the heck out of there, the mayor is a joke in herself and needs to take care of the real problems around town.
