Fire investigators believe an arson fire burned the storage facility for the London Area Boys Football League on Monday night.
Keith Smith, president of the league, said at least an estimated amount of $30,000 worth of equipment was lost in the blaze.
The league is scheduled to open play in 45 days.
“”It is a shame something like this has happened,” Smith said. “Somebody had to have seen something going on in a very public place.”
The London Area Boys Football League will survive,
“Practices start in three weeks,” Smith said. “We have more than 200 boys and girls expecting to play football and be a cheerleaders in the coming season.
“I have reported the incident to London High School assistant athletic Director Jimmy Wolverton and will find out more about the situation on Tuesday.”
“Insurance is still in question as far as the school’s policy. The LABFL has no insurance.”
