Annual London Strawberry Festival schedule

Pre-Festival

Monday, June 18

Cowling Park

6:30-7 p.m. — Final baby registrations accepted

7 p.m. — Baby contestant photos

7-7:30 p.m. — Final Shortcake, Little, Young/Prince, Junior and Queen registrations

7:30 p.m. — Shortcake, Little Miss, Young, Junior and Miss photos followed by modeling/runway clinic and mandatory contestant and parent meeting. Contestants not attending this meeting at Cowling Park with parent/guardian will be disqualified — no exceptions. In the event of a conflict with another organization, an appointment may be scheduled for the evening of June 19 by contacting the queens director prior to June 18. Proof of conflict will be required.

6:30-7:15 p.m. — Coloring, story, poetry, and photogenic contest entries accepted

Wednesday, June 20

4 p.m. or 5 p.m. — Streets close and food vendor set up begins

6:15-7:15 p.m. — Contest registration and check in. Largest homegrown strawberry, toy building, shoebox float, window, house, yard decorating, story and poetry, coloring, art, photogenic, cake and cookie decorating, at London City Council Chambers

6:30 p.m. at assigned time — Junior and Miss interviews at London City Council Chambers

June 21-23

Shortcake tent

Information booth with souvenirs

Unclaimed and lost items available for pick up at information booth

London Strawberry Festival

Thursday, June 21

7 a.m. — Non food vendors and tents set up

10:30 a.m. to noon — Contest registration and check in. largest homegrown strawberry, toy building, shoebox float, window, house, yard decorating, story and poetry, coloring, art, photogenic, cake and cookie decorating, at the information booth

10:45 a.m. — Opening ceremony

10:50 a.m. — Stage practice for shortcakes, little, young, junior and miss contestants, be sure to sign in

11 a.m. — Festival opens and all vendors open

11:30 a.m. — Modeling contest

6 p.m. — Mr. and Miss Shortcake Contest; check in by 5:45 p.m. at the main stage; entries due by June 18

6:30 p.m. (at end of shortcake contest) — Royalty contest at the Main Stage (Little, Young/Prince, Junior, Queen entries due June 18, no exceptions; end of Royalty contest; Miss Photogenic announced

8:45-10:30 p.m. — Strawberry shop, fresh strawberries, chocolate dipped strawberries, and more in the shortcake tent

10:30 p.m. — Close

Friday, June 22

11 a.m. — Festival opens and all vendors open

Noon — To be announced on the main stage

5-9 p.m. — Strawberry shop, fresh strawberries, chocolate dipped strawberries, and more in the shortcake tent

7-8 p.m. — Strawberry food check in at information booth

6 p.m. — The Posse Band on the main stage; sponsored by All-Win Electric

7:30 p.m. — Kiddie Tractor Pull at Advantage Bank; sponsored by Madison Pediatrics; prizes awarded immediately and photos taken

8-8:15 p.m. — Strawberry food judged in private

8:30 p.m. — Strawberry food released

9 p.m. — Ricochet on the main stage

11 p.m. — Close remaining strawberry food will be discarded

Saturday, June 23

9 a.m. — Baby contest on the main stage; winners photos immediately following contest; registrations due June 18, no exceptions; open to Madison and surrounding counties

9 a.m. — All vendors open

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — London AC Cobra Car Show at the courthouse square

Noon to 4 p.m. — Ride special

Noon — The State Street Band on the main stage

1:30-3:30 p.m. — Queen’s luncheon at the Della Selsor building, Madison County Fairgrounds

3 p.m. — Chris and the Cruisers on the main stage

4 p.m. — Parade line up at Cowling Park

5 p.m. — Queen’s Parade followed by festival introductions and crowning of the 2011 queen at the main stage; Grand Marshall recognized, contest awards presented and photos taken; largest homegrown strawberry, toy building, shoebox float, window, house, yard decorating, story and poetry, coloring, art, cake and cookie decorating, strawberry food, best strawberry themed unit, pet contest, decorated bike contest, decorated wagon contest, and best queen’s float; queen’s float award sponsor: Starr Trophy

7:30 p.m. — 50/50 raffle

7:40 p.m. — Pie in the face

8 p.m. — Tim Omark on the main stage

8:30-10:30 p.m. — Strawberry shop, fresh strawberries, chocolate dipped strawberries, and more in the shortcake tent

9-11 p.m. — Pick up contest entries at information booth

11 p.m. — Rides and festival closes

 

Post-Festival

Monday, June 25

6 p.m. — Royalty photos and meeting

By appointment only — Pick up contest entries

Saturday, July 1

All entries left will be discarded.
