Thursday roundup: London knocks off Division I Westland

London’s Kyle Fisher slides safely into third for a first-inning triple Thursday.

COLUMBUS — The London baseball team scored an impressive 4-3 victory Thursday night over host Division I Westland.

The Red Raiders (18-4) got the scoring going early when Kyle Fisher had an RBI triple in the first inning.

Later that inning, Kory Downing socked a two-run home run to left.

Kyle Spencer earned the victory for London.

 

Madison-Plains 10,

Westfall 3

WILLIAMSPORT — The Madison-Plains baseball team had a huge day at the plate Thursday en route to clobbering host Westfall.

Caleb Chanay was 4-for-4, while Matt Jefferson had two hits, including a RBI double.

Nick Garrett pitched a complete game for the victory, which moves Madison-Plains to 5-14.

 

Softball

Madison-Plains 2

WILLIAMSPORT — The Madison-Plains softball team lost a nonleague road game Thursday at Westfall.

Emily Blosser accounted for both of the Golden Eagles’ runs with a two-run homer.

 

Tennis

WORTHINGTON — The Jonathan Alder boys tennis team lost Thursday night.

In singles play, J.Montgomery def. D.Troyer 6-1, 6-0; R.Smith def. K.Yoder 6-1, 6-0; D.Francic def. D.Moser 6-7[5-7],1-6;

In doubles play, Myer/Howard def. Ferko/Colvin 7-5, 6-2; and Billman/Boucouras def. Beachy/Byers 6-3, 6-1.
