Ohioan finds check from storm-torn Indiana town

GROVE CITY, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio woman walking her dog is the third to come across a check from a tornado-devastated town in Indiana.

WBNS-TV reports Tuesday that Donna Stevens of Grove City in suburban Columbus found the check from Henryville, Ind., about 170 miles away. She thinks it may have been carried by March tornadoes that destroyed Henryville and other southern Indiana communities and killed 13 people.

The $10 check, dated 1982, is made out to cash and signed. After an Internet search, Stevens says, “I knew then that I had something that had traveled a long distance to Grove City.”

A check from the same family, dated 1980, was found in Jamestown and one dated 1984 was found outside Cincinnati.
