The Harvest Prep baseball and softball teams visited West Jefferson on Monday night and both left without collecting a hit.

Pitcher Brynna Cahill led the Roughrider softball team to a 19-0 Mid-State League/Cardinal Division victory.

“Brynna was just outstanding,” West Jeff coach Jim Stevens said. “We didn’t commit any errors, either. That’s the kind of ball we will have to play to be successful.”

West Jefferson scored 11 runs in the second inning, with four coming home on an inside-the-park home run from Coren Braithwaite.

“Man, she is just so fast,” Stevens said. “She almost passed the other runners on base.”

The Roughriders collected 14 hits. Cahill was 4-for-4 at the plate, while Josie Hume was 3-for-4, Taylor Bowman was 2-for-2 and Shylee Gray was 2-for-4.

“We hit the ball really well,” Stevens said.

Last night, West Jefferson lost 3-0 to perennial power North Union.

North Union is now 9-0.

“I can’t complain about one thing tonight,” Steven said.

“I told the girls don’t hang your heads. They played fantastic.

“North Union has pretty rrun-ruled everybody they played so far. We put the ball in play and we didn’t make any errors.”

• On the baseball diamond Monday, Caleb Ferguson, Nick Ewalt and Carter Harris teamed to no-hit Harvest Prep, 30-0, in MSL/Cardinal play.
