Ben to continue to lead London

The London City School District began the search for a new superintendent in January 2012.

“The board of education was looking for a candidate with significant superintendent experience and prior success,” said Martha Geib, chairwoman of the board of eductaion. “Our goal was to find a superintendent who would serve London City Schools for many years. However, it became clear during this process that the best fit for our district was to continue with Mr. Thomas Ben as our interim superintendent.”

Geib announced last night that Ben has agreed to continue in the role of interim superintendent for the 2012-2013 academic year, continuing the work he has done to set our district on a sound financial path and furthering our academic progress.

The board of education plans to initiate a new search for a long-term superintendent candidate next year.

The search was coordinated by the Educational Service Center of Franklin County.

“We had 15 applications that were submitted online,” Geib said.

“The applications were reviewed and we interviewed four candidates in our first round. We then narrowed the field to three candidates for our second round of interviews.”
