Now is time to take care of brushes

In so many of my articles, I have talked about the benefits and joys of immersing yourself in painting and drawing, what it can do for your outlook on life and really seeing the wonderful world in which we live. Now is the time for you to be able to do this either as a first timer or as a time to return-to-the-basics.

This coming Tuesday, March 6, from 6-7 p.m., I will be conducting a class for this purpose at Studio 7 located between the courthouse and McDonalds. This class in how to select paint and how to select, use and clean brushes will be free. This is part of our overall learn to paint program.

If those who attend are interested, they will be able to sign up for the rest of the beginning painting course which will include choosing and the preparation of painting surfaces, how to mix the basic colors, an introduction to the simple color wheel, selecting subject matter and basic composition. There will be a demonstration in each subject and the students will then participate in creating their own painting.

So many times people recommend a certain activity and then offer no support in helping others to get started. This is my way of helping you to do as I have suggested and recommended. At this time in our lives, our economy and our politics are stressful. Try a hobby that can be the exact opposite.

At this meeting on March 6 you will be able to meet other art instructors and members of the London Visual Arts Guild and see what other courses are being offered this spring.
