Flames’ run ends at regional

PICKERINGTON — Few expected this kind of outstanding season given the Shekinah Christian girls basketball team’s youth.

The Flames advanced all the way to a Division IV regional final game Saturday before losing, 53-43, to an extremely athletic Mansfield St. Peter’s team.

The Flames, who ended their season 20-5, have just one senior on this year’s roster — Rachel Lawrence.

On Saturday night, the Flames held a 14-12 advantage after the first quarter, but nine second-quarter turnovers turned the tide.

Shekinah Christian trailed, 29-23, at the intermission as the Spartans scored the frame’s last 10 points.
