County to test tornado sirens Wednesday
A county and statewide tornado drill will be held at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, March 28.
This will take the place of the weekly Wednesday noontime outdoor warning siren test in Madison County.
The system will be activated with a longer tone of three minutes than the usual weekly blast of 30 seconds.
Madison County Sheriff Jim Sabin, whose office activates the county’s warning sirens, advises county residents to be aware of the change.
“Don’t be alarmed by the three-minute tone,” Sabin said.
“We hope that the longer tone will increase awareness of the need for people to prepare for severe weather conditions in the future.”
