WALLACE SR.
Donald P. Wallace Sr., 74, of Marysville, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, Feb. 18, 2012, at Memorial Hospital.
He was retired after being employed for over 30 years at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company here in Marysville.
Don was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.
He was a 40 year charter member of VFW Post No. 3320 and active in the Union County Honor Guard. He was also a member in Amvets and the Marysville Eagles. He served on the JFK Presidential Honor Guard and the State of Ohio Honor Guard.
A family man at heart, he enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed bowling, working outside his home in his garden and the Buckeyes and Bengals.
Don was born Jan. 9, 1938, in London, to the late Ernest P. and Wilma Eades Wallace.
He also preceded in death by a brother, William H. “Bill” Wallace; and his father- and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Lucile Bright.
He married Bonnie J. Bright on Nov. 16, 1959. She also preceded him in death Dec. 10, 2002.
He is survived by his children, Tina L. Snyder of Elkhart, Indiana, Dee A. Clark and her special friend, Steve Kunze, and Paula J. Tignor, all of Marysville, Lori S. Snyder and her fiance Jim Simpkins of Upper Arlington, Donald P. (Melanie) Wallace Jr. of Marysville; 15 grandchildren, Dustin, Alisha, Amanda, Zach, Jessica, Adam, Kodey, Kelsey, Jacob, Eli, Emily, Derek, Jordan, Logan, and Jasmin; five great-grandchildren, Kaylia, Ethan, Shayne, Braylon, and Kyle; son-in-law, Steve Tignor; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the INGRAM FUNERAL HOME, 975 N. Maple St., Marysville, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012. The Rev. Donald Moceri will be officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery with the Union County Honor Guard providing full military honors.
