Shekinah Christian girls basketball coach Rod Yoder knew coming into Thursday night that his Flames would have a battle on their hands.
He was correct.
Shekinah Christian (13-2) survived visiting Delaware Christian, 74-61,
The visiting Eagles actually (9-4) led at halftime, 30-29. However, Shekinah Christian made its halftime adjustments, came out of the locker room and outscored Delaware Christian, 24-6, in the third quarter.
“We shot the ball much better in the second half and we put more pressure on them defensively with our man-to-man defense,” Yoder said.
Delaware Christian took its first lead of the game with 1:09 left to play in the first half, but the Flames answered immediately.
Shekinah Christian led 21-14 after a quarter of play.
Bridget Troyer led the Flames with 22 points, while Annie Rohrer netted 18, Ashley Gingerich 14 and Rachel Lawrence 11.
