Alan Perkins, 73, of Plain City, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, Dec. 14, 2011, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born Jan. 30, 1938, in Plain City.

Graduated from the last Plain City High School class in 1956.

Served eight years in the Navy Reserves as an Aerial Photographer.

Retired from Clark Graphics in Columbus in 2003 as the Fulfillment Manager, worked previously at Scott’s in Marysville for 17 years in the Advertising Department and at Columbus Banknote in Dublin.

Member of the Plain City Presbyterian Church for over 50 years and served as a Trustee and Deacon.

Served on Plain City Village Council in the 1960s and early 1970s.

Past member of several organizations including Plain City Lions Club, Plain City Jaycees and American Legion Post 248 of Plain City.

Volunteered a number of years for the Mobile Meals through Union County Memorial Hospital.

Preceded in death by parents, Russell and Doris (Somerlot) Perkins; stepmother, Dorothy Perkins; sister, Sharon Perkins; brother-in-law, Carl Wood; sister-in-law, Margaret Kincaid; uncles and aunts, Bernard and Isabel Rubeck, Graydon and Susan Mohr, Ira and Gladys Gwynn, Bill Somerlot, Phillip Cheney, Harold Kuba.

Survived by loving wife of 52 years, Arlene (Wood) Perkins whom he married May 22, 1959 in his father’s home; children, Alan LeMoyne (Leslie) Perkins, Carl Perkins, Teresa Perkins; grandchildren, Jamie (Tharon Prather) Perkins, David (Brenda Zachrich) Perkins; sister, JoAnna (John) Minetti; brother, Cary Perkins; sisters-in-law, Elnora Richardson, Thelma (Jim) Mathys, Ruth (Bill) Forman; aunt, Laura Kuba; cousins, Rita (Bill) Headington, Fred (Debbie) Somerlot, Gary (Linda) Mohr, John (Beth) Gywnn, Tom (Ruby) Gywnn, Nan Augustein Smith.

Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at the Plain City Presbyterian Church, 231 E. Main St., Plain City. Pastor Don Hilkerbaumer will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Loving Care Hospice, 56 S. Oak St., London, OH 43140 or Mobile Meals on Wheels, c/o Memorial Hospital of Union County, 500 London Ave., Marysville, OH 43040.
