Weidner has the write stuffBy Dean Shipley
There’s a seventh grader in London Middle School, who has power in her pen.
Elisabeth Weidner will be competing at the Power of the Pen State Finals at the College of Wooster on May 26 and May 27.
“This is quite an achievement, as only the top 20 percent of all participants in Power of the Pen qualify for the state tournament,” said Rachel Morris, seventh grade language arts teacher and her coach for the competition.
Morris said Weidner’s competing as a seventh grader “is quite an accomplishment.”
“I have never had any seventh graders qualify for the state tournament since I began coaching four years ago,” Morris said.
Weidner’s fellow regional participants, Courtney McPeek and Andrea King, will be going to the state tournament as runners and to support their teammate.
